Day 1 Getting there and being square!

Wow I'm so excited!!  I got to the hotel and in my room... looked out and there was the convention center.  The place that I will go to tomorrow and meet up with 6000 of my best Stampin' Up! friends!!   Well, in truth, I don't know every single one of them... but in Stampin' Up! we're all friends, some we just haven't met yet!

Look at the sunset... just amazing!

and here is my roomie.... my upline... SANDI GRIMES!!
Hello!!!

Look at this beautiful "roomie" gift she made for me.  The large book is just for me to put info down in and keep track of my classes and ideas... yeah you're right... I'm taking names!!   But only as contacts for Stampin' Up!   It's a really cool book and the second smaller book is actually a calendar.  LOVE IT!!   These were just the best gifts ever!!  Thanks Sandi!!

Notice the "Queen" theme... Our group is called the Creative Queens!

Now I'm off to bed... I need my beauty sleep for tomorrow.  (trust me, I need all the beauty sleep I can get and then some!) There's lots of walking to do and so much to see!!!  I love Salt Lake City!

ZZZZZZzzzzzz zzz   zzz ZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZzzzzz zzzzzz  zzzz    ZZ   zzzzzz

(please multiply by 2  - Sandi and I both were catching some zzzz's)

It's time to wake up.... "good morning to you!" "good morning to you!"
My son always hated it when I would sing that in the morning....it drove him nuts!!  (But what's a mom to do?  Isn't it OUR job to torment our children with singing silly songs?  ... did I miss a parenting memo?)  Maybe I missed the memo... but he's out on his own now, and I sure miss HIM!

We did get up and go find some food, coffee and have lunch with Emily and Pam.  We ate at the Tuscan Bistro. The food was delish!!

Then back to the room for a bit of relaxing, and wait ~ what time is it??  5:00????   It's time for our first general session to start!!!!!   And we're off to the convention center.. hearts pounding, excitement is like electricity - we're all tingly (well I am at least lol)  here is Sandi under the BE THE DIFFERENCE SIGN...

We are all headed into the very large room music is playing and all the Stampin' Up! employees greet us with high fives and tons of enthusiasm loud music playing and it's WONDERFUL!!!!!!
'

This is so cool!!   Ladies and Gentlemen, the 2013 Stampin' Up! Be The Difference Event will start in 5 minutes!   Then out comes Ryan Innes  (from the Voice) to sing this years theme song..
BE THE DIFFERENCE!    It was so cool!

Stampin' Up! theme songs are usually cool and uplifting.  I uploaded last years tune  "I AM" and sang it all the time... still do... it inspires me!

this is just a little photo of a fraction of the people there!!

Look who this is.....

Ronald McDonald!!!!   Stampin' Up! supports the Ronald McDonald foundation and Ronald was telling us stories and in one story he just broke down and cried... so did Shelli... and ok ... so did I...I couldn't help it though.  I mean who wouldn't cry if they saw Shelli crying and Ronald McDonald crying because he was telling such a sad story.... But The Ronald McDonald foundation does some really good things for children. I hope you drop some cash donations in the window of the drive throughs, and we support the Ronald McDonald foundation by making cards and donating them so that families that might not otherwise be able to, can send a card to someone and it's free of charge.
There is also a set of stamps in the book, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of that stamp goes to the Ronald McDonald foundation as well.

More to come... Thanks for stopping by!! Have a Blessed Day!

hello!!

Sorry I've been "missing in action" for a bit. I was at the Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.   What an experience!!  My next few blogs are going to be sharing that experience with you. I had so much fun and have lots to show you!  I don't normally blog in this fashion... I usually keep it about the cards etc... but thanks for letting me share       :)

Ladies and gentlemen,  please fasten your seatbelts and keep your chairs in an upright position. We are departing Tampa International Airport and will arrive in Dallas, Texas very shortly.  (am I the only one that gets the tune of the TV show Dallas stuck in my head?)

I do love to take photos out of the window!  It was a beautiful day for flying.

We have arrived in Dallas, please locate your carry-on from the overhead sections or from under the seat in front of you,  and depart the plane quickly and safely.

Now I must find the gate for my connection flight to SALT LAKE CITY!!!

Not only did I find my gate, but lots of other STAMIN' UP! demos all headed for the convention!

I felt like I was in the midst of  Stampin' Up! Royalty!

Do you know who this is with the yellow bag??

If you said CHERIE HUNT - you are correct. This retired school teacher from Ohio, knows her stuff!! She did a presentation on the main stage from the items in that yellow bag.   Her personal sales for 2012 were $40,000 - $49,999  Stampin' Up! is working to update their site for us, so I'm using 2012 stats. She's just the sweetest person ever!!

CHECK THIS OUT!

Can you believe this?   DAWN GRIFFITH!!!  You have to watch some of her YOU-TUBE videos!! She was so willing to share her success building information.  She won several prestigious awards at convention - AND she was named to the Advisory Board!!  Her 2012 personal sales were over $100,000!

**one thing I will say is, I can spot a "fake" person a mile away.... one thing that rang true with everyone I met - including Shelli Gardner, is they are all down to earth, friendly people that are always willing to help others.   Service projects are very important to Stampin' Up! and I'm proud to have had the opportunity to meet these people and participate in the service project at convention**

NEXT UP...ERIN COOK  my Facebook friend!!

We were all sitting in the corner of the airport in Dallas (there goes that theme song again)... Dawn Griffith asked me to repeat my name, and I told her "Tonawanda". I was sitting on the edge of my chair.. (who wouldn't be!!)  and the girl sitting next to me said... "excuse me, did you just say TONAWNADA??"  I turned and said "yes..."  and we realized "who we were" and we both started screaming like little girls because we were so happy to finally meet... Erin is the sweetest person in the world and I'm so happy that we got to chat for a bit.... big hugs Erin!   You are a Stampin' Up! QUEEN as well!!

Ladies and gentlemen,  please fasten your seatbelts and keep your chairs in an upright position. We are departing Dallas International Airport and will arrive in Salt Lake City, Utah very shortly.   SERIOUS excitement is building amongst us all!  And please... stop humming that Dallas TV show tune!

We're here!! WE"RE HERE!!!!
You would not believe how fast that flight emptied!
They didn't have to ask us twice!

OH LOOK ~~~~~

Mr. Brown is meeting us here!!!  (for those that are wondering... many of us call the UPS delivery men, Mr. Brown.)

Made it to my room on the 18th floor of the Salt Lake City Hilton..... There is the convention center on the right side of the photo.

Yes.... I'm here!  It's real!!   I'm so excited!!!!!!!

But you will have to tune back in tomorrow to get more of the scoop!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day
to spend a few minutes with me on my blog.
Have a BLESSED Day!

(I just love it when you comment and say hi!)
And feel free to share my blog with your friends!

Hello Friends and Family.... I hope you've had a wonderful Sunday!

I had a Christmas In July class at my house today.... did a little Christmas decorations (just a little) and had some Christmas tunes in the background.  6 Guests. And a good time it was!!!

This is a little Bunco card I designed for when we have ladies that are sick and can't make it to Bunco!!  All of us will sign it and hopefully it will cheer her up!

These are the ladies from my class today ... we had a great time!

Here's the cards they made -  one is an ornament attached to the card so the recipient can put the ornament on their tree when they get the card.....

Thanks for popping by my blog to check it out.... have a blessed day!!!!

Happy Sunday!!!

I've been a slacker lately... but not in making my cards, just in blogging!  I've been trying to get my head in gear and get some swap cards made for convention.   Not getting much done though... Here is a new card I made and thought I would share.

Base (Pink Pirouette) is standard card size, 4 1/4 X 11 scored at 5 1/2
Whisper White is 5 1/4  X 4.

I just stamped the flower from Backyard Basics in StazOn Black (a few times across the paper) and colored with my markers. Very sloppy I might add. Then sponged on a little of the Sky Blue ink and I used  Dazzling Details on the center of the flowers then ran it thru the big shot with the hexagon embossing folder.

Then attached it to the base (pink) with snail.

Stamped the bee on a piece of  Very Vanilla CS then used the die to cut it. Colored the yellow on his back and the stripes, then a little on his legs, then put Dazzling Details on his wings and eyes.  And "popped" him on the embossed/colored CS using a dimensional.

Stamped the sentiment from Petite Pairs on Whisper White in Black StazOn  and punched it with the Word Window Punch. "Popped" it with a dimensional.  The inside sentiment says "...begin with you!" and I used the small oval to punch it out.  On each of these punches, I went around it with my sponge using the Sky Blue ink.

One thing .... I'm not a good "colorer" so using the embossing helped to hide my imperfections a lot! I hope you enjoy making the card as I did.

Have a blessed day!!  Thanks for stopping by!!
